Le Populaire's Jean-François Julien published a piece earlier today entitled "Lucien Guimbarda aka Gainsbourg, even in Limousin" which details the account of Serge Gainsbourg, aka Lucien Ginzburg, aka Lucien Guimbarda's escape from Nazi persecution to Limoges from Paris during WWII. It recounts stories from Joseph and Olya Ginzburg's family friends, describing their moves from Odessa to Paris and then on to Limousin. Gainsbourg biographer, Gilles Verlant, discusses the importance of Serge's years in Limousin, saying that it's "undeniable that it is in Limousin that's drawn the character of Serge Gainsbourg" and that "one thing is sure, the links between the Limousin is Gainsbourg are numerous.
